Gib Drama Festival
Stage One welcomes the announcement that the Drama Festival is to be re-vived. This week we have been pleased to learn that plans for a new Drama Festival have been finalised and that it will be staged in March. Stage One is planning to support this festival, hopefully with our own production and we have started work on this. We feel it is important to promote drama in Gibraltar and are very much looking forward to being part of the festival and hope other groups are too.
PRESS RELEASE BY GIBRALTAR GOVERNMENT
The Ministry of Culture is re-launching the Gibraltar Drama Festival. This will be called the Gibraltar Diamond Jubilee Drama Festival.
The Festival will be held at the Ince’s Hall Theatre between the 13th and 17th of March 2012.
The Festival is open to any drama group and will be of a competitive nature, with adjudication.
There will be a main prize with a trophy and £1000 for the Best Play.
Additional awards will include Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Player and Best Young Performer, amongst others.
A small grant is also payable to each group entering the Festival, to help with expenses on props, costumes etc.
Entry forms and full conditions are now available from the Ministry of Culture, 310 Main Street. Or by email on dirculture@gibtelecom.net.
Entries may be handed in at the Ministry of Culture as from Monday 10th October 2011, between 9am and 1pm and 2.30pm and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Closing Date for receipt of entries is Friday 9th December 2011.
